Move a LBD to a different WorldCat record

Discover how to move a local bibliographic data record to a different bibliographic record in WorldShare Record Manager.

Overview

You can now move up to 100 local bibliographic data records to:

  • Upgrade an item on a brief record to a fuller record.
  • Move a LBD to a record with the correct edition or format.
  • Correct a matching issues that occurred in data processing.

 Note: You can also move associated local bibliographic data records when moving local holdings records to a different bibliographic record. See Move a LHR to a different WorldCat record for more information.

Move a local bibliographic data record to a different bibliographic record from a bibliographic record

  1. From the bibliographic record, scroll down to the LBD accordion and locate the local bibliographic data record you want to move.
  2. Click Move. The Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog opens.
  3. From the Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog, you have two options:
    1. Enter the OCLC control number for the target bibliographic record in the Bibliographic Record text field
      Or
    2. Click Find and Select Record to search for the target record.
      • Select a scope from the Scope drop-down list.
      • Select an index from the Index drop-down list. See Local bibliographic data record indexes A-Z for a list of available LBD indexes.
      • Enter your search term(s) in the Term(s) search box.
      • Click Search.
      • Locate the target bibliographic record in the search results and then click Select Record. The Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog reappears with an OCLC control number in the Bibliographic Record text field.
         Note: To see detailed information about the OCLC control number entered in the Bibliographic Record text field, place the cursor over the information icon (Information icon) in the Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog.
  4. Select whether you want to automatically delete Associated WorldCat Holding(s) when no LBDs or LHRs are on the bibliographic record.
  5. Click Move. When the record has moved successfully, you will receive a confirmation message and link to the bibliographic record to which the LBD was moved.

    You will receive a an error message if you try to move a LBD you are currently editing.

Move all local bibliographic data records to a different bibliographic record from a bibliographic record

  1. From the bibliographic record, scroll down to the LBD accordion and click Move All. The Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog opens.
  2. From the Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog, you have two options:
    1. Enter the OCLC control number for the target bibliographic record in the Bibliographic Record text field
      Or
    2. Click Find and Select Record to search for the target record.
      • Select a scope from the Scope drop-down list.
      • Select an index from the Index drop-down list. See Local bibliographic data record indexes A-Z for a list of available LBD indexes.
      • Enter your search term(s) in the Term(s) search box.
      • Click Search.
      • Locate the target bibliographic record in the search results and then click Select Record. The Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog reappears with an OCLC control number in the Bibliographic Record text field.
         Note: To see detailed information about the OCLC control number entered in the Bibliographic Record text field, place the cursor over the information icon (Information icon) in the Move LBD(s) to Different Bibliographic Record dialog.
  3. Select whether you want to automatically delete Associated WorldCat Holding(s) when no LBDs or LHRs are on the bibliographic record.
  4. Click Move. When the record has moved successfully, you will receive a confirmation message and link to the bibliographic record to which the LBD was moved.

    You will receive an error message if:
    • You try to move more than 100 records via manual selection.
    • You try to move a LBD you are currently editing.
