Why is a knowledge base link not appearing on a title in WorldCat Discovery?

Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Answer

To surface knowledge base links on article records, WorldCat Discovery uses the ISSN or title (more than 3 words match not including articles like "a" "the") to look for a match in the knowledge base. If this is not present in the article metadata, a knowledge base link will not appear.

Monographic title records (ie. eBooks, eVideo, eAudio) use OCLC number, ISSN/ISBN, or title (more than 3 words match not including articles like "a" "the") to perform the same matching function.

If you have a title selected in more than one collection from the same provider, where the titles have exactly the same URL and share the same coverage, then the entries will be de-duplicated in WorldCat Discovery, and will only present one of those links on the item record.
