Release Date: December 10, 2024

Introduction

This release of CapiraMobile provides three new features and enhancements in addition to numerous bug fixes for users on the newest version of the app with Staff Dashboard access.

  • Patrons are now prompted to update the app
  • Item descriptions have been updated for Wise libraries
  • Wise libraries can now add carousels
  • Polaris libraries can now utilize pickup areas in the app

Many of these enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.

Recommended actions

Select enhancements and bug fixes require the user to restart their app. If your users do not see one of the changes made, please ask them to force close the app and restart it.

New features and enhancements

Patrons are now prompted to update the app

In order to help your patrons keep their app up to date, users who do not set their app to automatically update will now receive an in-app prompt to update their application. This message will only be delivered once every 90 days if an update has not been completed in that time.

Item descriptions have been updated for Wise libraries

Your patrons will now see the same item status description in the app as they do on your Wise OPAC, eliminating confusion on item status availability.

Wise libraries can now add carousels

The ability to add carousels has now been added to your app.

To add a carousel:

  1. From the left navigation, under the Elements menu, select Carousels.
  2. In the Display Name text box, enter a name for your carousel.
  3. In the ILS Record Set Code text box, enter the Profile ID.
  4. Click Add.

If entering multiple active carousels, please select which one you would like featured on the Welcome screen of the app.

Polaris libraries can now utilize pickup areas in the app

Innovative Polaris added functionality for your libraries to create pickup areas within a pickup location. The app will now allow you to utilize those pickup areas for your patrons.

To create a new pickup area:

  1. From the left navigation, under the Elements menu, select Pickup Locations.
  2. In the Add Location box:
    1. In the Display Name text box, enter a name for your location (e.g. Main Library - Circulation Desk Pickup). This is what patrons will see as the title of the pickup location.
    2. In the ILS Code text box, enter the main location ILS Code, followed by a comma and the pickup area ILS Code (e.g. "15, 6").
  3. Click Add.

Bug fixes

Full branch alerts visible on Android

When your library enters a branch alert in the Staff Dashboard Branch Settings, the full alert will now be displayed on Android. Previously, any alert longer than two lines was cut off and not visible to your users.

Events added to Google Calendar have the correct map location on Android

On Android, when your library users add an event to their Google Calendar, the map location now correctly points to the event location. Previously, the map location used the room name field and directed your users to incorrect building locations.
