Create and manage alerts

Discover how to create and edit individual alerts for your library in the CapiraMobile Staff Dashboard.

Overview

Individual alerts are scheduled messages that are delivered to patrons who have downloaded your CapiraMobile app, unless they opt out of receiving alerts of that type. Scheduled alerts allow you to communicate information such as emergency closings, updates on hours, library sales, events, and more. Alerts are sent as push notifications to all app users who have opted into those alert types and enabled push notifications for the app on their device.

Important notes about alerts:

  • Consortium app users can view and subscribe to alert types created in both the consortial Dashboard and individual library Dashboards.
  • Alert delivery to all opted-in users can take up to 30 minutes.

Create an individual alert

Before creating an alert, you must have an alert type to assign it to. See Manage alert types for more information.

  1. From the left navigation, select Alerts/Notifications > Alerts.
  2. Select the Create Alert tab.
  3. Fill in the following information:
    • Alert Title - A title that users will see when receiving the alert.
    • Alert Message - The message associated with the alert (e.g. "Branch is closed for an emergency").
    • Select Alert Type - Select one or more of your pre-added alert types to associate with the alert. For more information, see Manage alert types.

Note: To select multiple alert types, use Control+Click or Command+Click.

    • URL (optional) - A URL leading the user to more information about the alert.

Note: If your website links are not working in the app, please try adding or removing https://www. from URLs entered in the Staff Dashboard.

    • When do you want to send this alert? - Schedule the alert to be pushed to users Immediately or Schedule for later.
    • Send date - If you have chosen to send the alert later, set the date and time the alert should be sent to users.
  4. (Optional) For Alert Title or Alert Message, click Expand Translations to add one or more language translations. See Text field translations.
