When I go to my WorldShare's login URL, I get a "this site can't be reached" error.

Symptom

  • You get the error "This site can't be reached" when you bring up your library's WorldShare instance.

Applies to

  • WorldShare

Resolution

First, this error often resolves without OCLC intervention, and may be an issue with your library's SSO being down. Please confirm with your IT team to see if they're aware of any outages on their side of the configuration.

Second, try using the WorldCat Registry ID version of your WorldShare URL in a private/incognito web browser window: https://[Your RegID].share.worldcat.org/wms

If switching to that URL does not resolve the error, contact OCLC Support with your name, library symbol, a full-page screenshot of the error, and the URL you are trying to access.

Additional information

You can find your site's instance name in Service Configuration under WorldCat Discovery and WorldCat Local > User Interface Options > Your WorldCat.org URL tab. It will appear after the https:// protocol, but before the "on.worldcat.org".
