Why is an expired account allowed to place an interlibrary loan request?
Symptom
- A patron with an expired WorldShare Circulation (WMS) account is able to place ILL requests.
Applies to
- Tipasa
- WorldShare Interlibrary Loan
Resolution
Users with expired library accounts can still make ILL requests if they have a valid account for your library's 3rd party authentication system.
To fix this:
- Remove their account from the 3rd party authentication (LDAP) so that they can no longer log in
- Delete their account from Tipasa/WMS
Most libraries send OCLC a patron delete file after graduation and a few weeks into each semester after students withdraw from school. This process will delete the accounts from WMS/Tipasa, so patrons cannot place ILL requests.
