New features and enhancements

Utilize the new streamlined service for circulation integration

Available September 15

With this release, all Tipasa libraries will be able to take advantage of the newly developed and streamlined circulation integration service. WMS, Alma, Millennium, and Sierra are currently supported, and more library systems will be added with upcoming releases.

If you're already using circulation integration, you don't need to make any changes to your setup and there are no changes to your workflows. However, the circulation integration options now have a different look and feel.

Previously, the setup for WMS was located on a different page than the setup for other library systems, but now, setup for all supported library systems is done on the same page. To access the new page, go to OCLC Service Configuration > WorldShare ILL > Circulation Integration.

This screenshot shows the options available when WMS is selected.

If your library is not yet using circulation integration, we encourage you to use this new streamlined configuration to gain the ability to automatically keep your ILL and circulation systems in sync.

For more information, see WorldShare Circulation Integration, Third-party Circulation integration, or check the OCLC Community Center for the Interlibrary Loan Roadmap.

For libraries with Alma, automatically update due date when lender approves a renewal

Available October 22

Libraries using Alma circulation integration will now have an additional option for circulation integration. We encourage you to enable this new setting for "Update due date upon lender approval of renewal request."

When this new integration option is selected, the due date will update automatically in the Alma circulation temporary item when the lending library approves a renewal request. The renewal will also be recorded in the circulation history.

If you have specified an offset for the patron due date in OCLC Service Configuration, that offset will be reflected in both the Alma temporary record and My Account. And if you have configured an automatic notification for renewal approvals, and email and/or text will be sent to the patron.

For more information, see Third-party Circulation integration.

For off-system requests, utilize improvements to Days To Respond and printouts

Previously, the number of Days To Respond for off-system requests was fixed as 8 days for copies and 16 days for loans. Now, the Days To Respond is based on the configuration setting for the partner institution.

To set the Days To Respond, go to OCLC Service Configuration > WorldShare ILL > Address Book > Partners. Select the number of days you would like the request to remain with the partner institution from the drop-down menu.

In addition, printouts have been improved for off-system requests. Book straps, stickers, and one-per-page request printouts now include the reference ID for the requester or supplier for the request at the time it is added to the print queue.
