I receive an error when trying to delete a WorldCat record even when it shows 0 holdings
Symptom
- When you attempt to delete a record in Record Manager, you receive the error: "Unable to delete the record. The bibliographic record has attached LBD or LHRs." However, the record shows no holdings, and you are the cataloging institution.
Applies to
- WorldShare Record Manager
Resolution
In WorldShare Record Manager, you can delete WorldCat records so long as you have the Cataloging Full role, you are the cataloging institution, and the record has no attached holdings, LBDs, or LHRs.
If you believe all of the above to be true, but you still cannot delete the record, it could be caused by another library having a holding on the record that you cannot see (i.e. with a WorldCat Holding Audience Level set to something less than "All WorldCat"). If another library has a holding set to "My Library Users," for example, you will not be able to see it in Record Manager, but it would prevent the record from being deleted.
If you are getting this error for any other reason, contact OCLC Support with the OCLC Number, your symbol, and a screenshot of the error.
