I receive an error message when I use Alma to connect via SFTP. How do I fix this?

Symptom

• Using Alma to connect via SFTP gives an error message, similar to the following:

  • Failed to connect to FTP server filex-[server].oclc.org with user name [username] and port 22 on error Session.connect: java.security.SignatureException: Bad signature length: got 404 but was expecting 384. Please check connection details.

Resolution

Please ensure that your Alma SFTP connection is set up correctly:

1. In Alma, go to Configuration Menu > General > External Systems > S/FTP Definitions > Add S/FTP Connection
2. Ensure that Use Modern Client is checked. This should fix the connection error.
