Error: Unable to connect to [ILS domain], retries exceeded

Symptom

  • You are attempting to export records from Connexion to your local ILS via Gateway export, but you receive a status message stating: "Error: Unable to connect to [ILS domain], retries exceeded." There is nothing in the Host Messages section.
  • In some cases, this issue only occurs off-campus, but the export works correctly on campus.

Resolution

If you are working from a location you normally do not work, such as at home or another location off-campus, the problem is likely related to your network. This can also happen if you're on a VPN that isn't recognized. Contact your IT department and your ILS support team for assistance.
