Automatically Back Up Local Files window: Features and buttons

Feature How to use
Buttons for backup options Select a button to set one of the following options:
  • Do not back up local files - Select this option if you do not want automatic backups.
  • Back up to same folder as original file (default) - Retain or re-select this option to automatically create a backup file in the same folder using the same file name as the original, but with the additional file extension *.bac.
  • Back up local files to [select another folder] - Select this option to choose a different folder for the backup file. Once you select a folder, the window displays the full path name.

Caution: If you back up to the same folder as the original file, no matter where your local file is located, it is backed up to the same folder. If you create multiple local files with the same name but located in different folders, each time any one of the files is backed up, it overwrites the single backup file. It is recommended that if you use multiple files in multiple locations, give them distinctive file names.
