Assign or unassign generic user tools
Find to assign and unassign generic user tools in Connexion client.
Assign generic user tools
You can assign up to 10 generic user tools to:
- Insert a character
- Run a macro
- Issue a menu command
- Insert a text string
To assign a generic user tool:
- Navigate to Tools > User Tools > Assign. The User Tools window opens.
Or
Click the User Tools quick tool (). The User Tools window opens.
Or
Click the arrow to the right of the icon and then click Manage. See Use assigned user tools for more information. The User Tools window opens. - In the User Tools window, under Display Commands for Category, select the category you want to assign to the usertool.

- Menu Item
- Text
- The list below the Display Commands for Category shows the available selections for the selected category. Select an item in this list.
- In the Select New User Tool list, select the user tool number you want to assign to the usertool.
- Click Assign Tool. The client assigns the user tool and supplies a default description of the tool.
Note: You must click Assign Tool. If you only click OK, the user tool is not assigned. After you click Assign Tool, the OK button becomes a Close button.- The description displays under Description Assigned in the User Tools window.
- The Tools > User Tools menu also displays descriptions for each assigned user tool.
- To change the default description of the user tool, follow the procedure below.
- Click List All to view all current user tool assignments.
- When finished, perform one of the following actions:
- Click Close or press <Enter> to apply the settings and close the User Tools window.
- Click Cancel to cancel changes you made before using the Assign Tool button and close the window.
Unassign or change a user tool assignment
- Navigate to Tools > User Tools > Assign. The User Tools window opens.
- Select the category and item you want to unassign or change. The user tool currently assigned to the item displays in the Current User Tools box.
- Select the user tool in the Current User Tools box and then click Unassign Tool to unassign a user tool assignment.
- Follow steps 4-6 above to reassign the unassigned item to a different user tool.
Note: If you do assign a second user tool to an item without first unassigning the one currently assigned, both user tools remain assigned to the same item. To eliminate the duplication, select the first assigned user tool and click Unassign Tool.
View or print a list of assigned user tools
- Navigate to Tools > User Tools > Assign. The User Tools window opens.
- Click List All. The Assigned User Tools window opens.
- Click Print. The printout lists the user tool number and the default description of its assigned item.
- Click Close to return to the User Tools window.
