Item Holdings Insights
Overview
The Item Holdings Insights report summarizes counts of your item holdings (LHRs) by month, branch, material format, and shelving location, utilizing monthly snapshots of data to view your item counts for selected historical months. This report also contains a drill-through detail report.
Report details
- Dataset: Collection Holdings Trends
- Data refresh rate: This report's data is updated monthly. The data will be updated by the third of the month. Data will be "as of" the end of the previous month.
- Data history start date: Data >= December 2015
- Default date range: The last full calendar month
- Report type: Interactive
Report interface
Slicers
The Item Holdings Insights report visual has three slicers that can be applied. By default, each slicer is set to All.
- Material Format - Select one or more of the available values to update the report visual. The available values will depend on your institution's holdings.
- Material Subformat - Select one or more of the available values to update the report visual. The available values will depend on your institution's holdings.
Visuals
The Item Holdings Insights report contains three visuals.
Item Holdings Quantity
The Item Holdings Quantity displays the total number of items held by your institution.
Bar chart
The Item Holdings Quantity by Material Format bar chart allows you to change the appearance of all visuals and columns in the report to limit by material format (default), branch, or shelving location.
- Select one of the following buttons to change your view:
- Material Format (default) - Displays the Item Holdings Quantity by Material Format bar chart
- Branch - Displays the Item Holdings Quantity by Branch bar chart
- Shelving Location - Displays the Item Holdings Quantity by Shelving Location bar chart
- Click a material format, branch name, or shelving location in the bar chart to limit all visuals and columns to content for that format.
- Reclick the selected material format to restore the appearance of all visuals and columns to their default.
It also provides access to the Item Holdings Insights detail report.
Visualization options
The Item Holdings Insights report provides three different visualizations.
- Click Summary to access a bar chart that shows, by default, the Platform Searches for the various COUNTER Item Platforms by month for the time period you entered in the prompt. The Summary visual is the default resualization for this report.
- Click Tree Map to access a treemap that shows hierarchical data as a set of nested rectangles. Hover over a COUNTER Item Platform rectangle to view the total number of unique item requests (PR_P1) for the platform.
Columns
The Item Holdings Insights report contains the following columns. Click on a column name for more information.
You can click a column name to change the column sort.
- Click once to sort the column in ascending order.
- Click twice to sort the column in descending order.
- Click three times to restore the column to its original order.
You can click the Expand button (
) next to a material format to view associated material subformats.
Drill-through detail report
The Item Holdings Insights detail report can be launched from the Title Holdings Insights report. It provides detailed counts of your item holdings (LHRs) by month, branch, material format, and shelving location, utilizing monthly snapshots of data to view your item counts for selected historical months.
To access the Item Holdings Insights detail report:
- Hover over a row in the Item Holdings Quantity by Material Format bar chart, and click Drill through from the pop-up dialog.
Or - Right-click a row in the Item Holdings Quantity by Material Format bar chart, and click Drill through from the pop-up dialog.
Report interface
This report has the same slicers, visuals, and columns as the Title Holdings Insights report.
