Why am I unable to query using the Author object?

The Author report object queries every listed author on the MARC record and concatenates them together into a single object. For this reason, any material with multiple authors where you will want to single out an author for a report will require you to use the matches pattern operator:
e.g, Author Name > Matches Pattern > %Steinback%
