WorldShare License Manager release notes, September 2023
Release Date: September 09, 2023
Introduction
There will be a License Manager release on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from approximately 9:00 am ET to 11:59 am ET.
This release includes back-end changes for public notes and additional improvements and fixes.
Recommended actions
For this release, we recommend that you reapply your Public Notes Template, even if there are no changes to your notes. Rerunning the template process will trigger a response to store your notes data in the new back-end location. If you do not reapply the template, you may see empty tables for "Content Affected" and "Content Not Affected" on the Public Notes Display page. If you do not reapply the template, any term notes already in the Knowledge Base Collection notes will be unaffected.
Rerun the template by clicking "Apply Template" and following the prompted steps. For more information, see the documentation on Public Notes.
New features and enhancements
Back-end Architecture for Public Notes
This release includes back-end architecture changes for Public Notes. License Manager will now store Collection and Title term notes in a new License Manager database.
Please note that until Discovery integrates with License Manager:
- Collection Level Public Notes will continue to be pushed into Knowledge Base collection notes
- Title Level Public Notes will not be visible outside of License Manager
As mentioned above, we recommend that you reapply your Public Notes Template, even if there are no changes to your notes. Rerunning the template process will trigger a response to store your notes data in the new back-end location.
Smart License Dates
End Date and Renewal Date calendar selectors will no longer allow you to supersede the Start Date. Previously, if you superseded the Start Date with an End Date or Renewal Date, the license showed an error and would not save. This prevents you from inadvertently making this error and saves time in your workflows.
Improved Public Notes Template Process
Ability to Cancel Partial Application of Public Notes Template
Previously, there was no way to stop a Public Notes Template update if it was submitted by mistake or if the update took too long due to a large dataset. Now, you can cancel an update with the cancel button. Please be aware that the cancellation will not reverse any note updates applied to collections or titles during the load time prior to the cancellation.
--
Clearer Messaging during Application of Public Notes Template
Previously, if there was an issue applying the template, the message stayed as in progress indefinitely. Now, if there was an issue and a partial update was applied, the message displays an error, and the counts of collections and titles updated.
Bug fixes
Timeout Error in Collection Manager
Some users experienced a timeout when viewing search results from Collection Manager. This has been fixed.
