Enable notification types

Learn how to enable your Next-Generation Notifications.

Enable notification types

When ready to use the Next-Generation Notification templates that you set up and allow these notifications to be sent, you must enable them within the Enable notification types module. 

  • Next-Generation Notifications are sent out every 10 minutes. 

 Caution: Do not toggle the Enable notifications section to On for the below notifications until you have completed all the required fields in the templates.

Loan notifications

Enable Loan due notifications. This will enable the following notifications:

 Note: When the Loan due notifications are enabled, the following legacy notifications will be disabled:

  • Loan Overdue Reminder - Before the loan due date
  • Loan Overdue Reminder - After the loan due date

Enable Restricted loan notifications. This includes:

 Note: The Restricted Loan Due Date Reminder and Restricted Loan Overdue Notice do not have corresponding legacy notifications.

Enable Recall notifications. This includes:

 Note: When any of the Recall notifications are enabled, the Recall Notification legacy notification is disabled. 

Enable Loan claim confirmation. This includes:

 Note: The Loan Claim Confirmation notification does not have a corresponding legacy notification.

Enable Loan due date confirmations. This includes:

 Note: When any of the Loan due date confirmation notifications are enabled, the Due date legacy notification is disabled. 

Enable Loan returned confirmation. This includes:

 Note: When the Loan returned confirmation notification is enabled, the Check-in legacy notification is disabled. 

Hold notifications

Enable the Hold request confirmation. This includes:

Enable the Hold termination confirmations. This includes:

 Note: When the Hold request confirmation notification is enabled, the hold request expiry and hold shelf expiry legacy notifications are disabled. 

Enable the Fulfilled hold request notifications. This includes:

 Note: When the Fulfilled hold request notification is enabled, the legacy  hold pickup notification is disabled. 

Enable the Hold completion confirmation. This includes:

Enable Messaging Integration

Once the notification type is enabled, you can optionally enable message integration for it by toggling the Enable Messaging Integration option to on.

Enabling message integration will generate a .csv file that is updated every 10-20 minutes when new messages exist.  Files are securely placed on your library's file exchange under the path /xfer/wms/out/circdata/notifications. Your messaging provider may then retrieve the file and deliver text messages to your patrons based on the terms agreed upon with your service provider.

 Caution:  Once enabled, the files will begin loading to your file exchange. Do not enable the Message Integration until a solution is in place with your messaging provider.

To receive messages, the patron must navigate to My Account, provide a mobile number, and opt into receiving library account updates by text message. Refer to My Account for more information.

  • Text messages can be viewed in the patron history according to your library's configuration.

Point of sale (POS) printing

Enable Loan due date confirmations - POS. This includes:

 Note: When any of the Loan due date confirmations - POS notifications are enabled, the Due date legacy notification is disabled. 

Enable Loan returned confirmation - POS. This includes:

 Note: When the Loan returned confirmation - POS notification is enabled, the Check-in legacy notification is disabled.
