EZproxy alerts

The EZproxy messages.txt file records information every time EZproxy is started or restarted. This file also contains alerts of non-fatal errors. These alerts can be helpful when troubleshooting problems that arise with EZproxy.

The table below provides descriptions of the alerts that might appear in messages.txt and how to address them. Additional alerts will be added.

WARNING: address range applies to all hosts: 0::-ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff

This warning will appear if you have entered one of the related directives in config.txt with a range that includes all possible IP addresses. This warning will appear for both IPv4 and IPv6 address ranges. No action is necessary, this message is recorded as a check to make sure you intend to include the full range of IP addresses for one of the given directive actions.

WARNING: address range applies to 65537 hosts: ###.###.###.###-###.###.###.###

WARNING: address range applies to 65537 hosts: ::#:#-::#:#

This warning will appear if you have entered one of the related directives in config.txt with a range that includes 65,537 hosts. This warning will appear for both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. No action is necessary. This message is recorded as a check to make sure you intend to include a large block of IP addresses for one of the given directive actions.

This warning will appear if you have entered one of the related directives in config.txt with an IPv6 overflow range. No action is necessary. This message is recorded as a check to make sure you intend to include an overflow block of IP addresses for one of the given directive actions.
