Introduction
This release of Choreo Insights provides a new feature in addition to numerous bug fixes. This feature will help you manage more complex workflows, including:
- Performing matches on OCLC WorkID to help libraries better identify scarce materials in their collections.
Many of these enhancements are the direct result of your feedback.
Recommended actions
For this release, we recommend that you review the following checklists and complete the relevant tasks so that you can adjust your policies and workflows and train your staff. These checklists identify updates that we have determined as significant for most institutions. We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether there are other items that might require additional action or follow up by your institution.

New features and enhancements
Work ID matching
Choreo Insights now gives your library the ability to run Choreo queries where OCLC WorkID is the match point opposed to using OCLC number. The ability to use OCLC WorkID as a match point can help your library better identify truly scarce materials in your collection. This new feature is available as a toggle that can be found under the Select Edition Type heading.
Using the WorkID selector
To take advantage of the WorkID functionality you will need to change the toggle to the WorkID. It is important to note that due to the nature of the WorkID functionality, it will only work with Overlap, Distinct, and Gap analyses. After selecting the WorkID option, the appropriate analysis type, and any filters you will want to use, click the Run Report button.
Making sense of your results
After running a Choreo query with the WorkID functionality enabled, you will see your results. The number returned in the results area when using the WorkID functionality is the number of OCLC numbers returned that met the WorkID criteria. In the case of comparing OCN-based queries to WorkID-based queries you can expect to see the following differences based on the analysis type:
Overlap - The results you see when using the WorkID for Overlap queries will be larger than queries that use OCN matching. This is due to the expanding number of titles that are shared between the two comparator groups since libraries could have holdings on different editions of materials that belong to the same work family.
Distinct - The results you see when using the WorkID will be smaller than queries that use OCN matching. This is due to the nature of the WorkID matching and that it shrinks the pool of unique titles at an institution.
Gap - The results you see when using the WorkID will be smaller than queries that use OCN matching. This is due to the nature of the WorkID matching and that it shrinks the pool of unique titles at an institution.
When you decide to export the results of your Choreo Insights query using the WorkID functionality you may notice multiple rows of data that have different OCLC numbers but share the same WorkID. This is done to expose all the OCLC numbers associated with a given work in a Choreo query and to help give your library the best information possible to make collection development decisions.
Bug fixes
- A previous issue that prevented Dewey call numbers from appearing in the Choreo Insights user interface after a query was run has been fixed. Dewey call numbers should appear as normal.
