Active directory mapping
Amlib has the capability to use Active Directory for staff operator authentication. This means that the User is able to login to Amlib automatically based on the User Name and Password of the Network Login permissions.
Set Username Permissions in Amlib for Active Directory Mapping
- In Amlib navigate to Main > Supervisor > Usernames
- Highlight the Username responsible for setting up the Active Directory Mapping and select F8 Choose (usually this is the main system administrator or library manager)
- Select Actual Main Menu > Supervisor > Active Directory Mappings
- Select the green Give button
- Then navigate to ViewingMenu > Supervisor > Active Directory Mappings
- Click on each button to make green, until all buttons are green
- Close the window and log out of Amlib
Active Directory Mapping Setup
- Launch Amlib and log in as the user responsible for setting Active Directory permissions as above – for example Manager
- Navigate to Main > Supervisor > Supervisor
- Then select Library Menu > Active Directory Mapping
- Select F1 New and F3 Save to create the Login details for each Amlib operator as required. If no setting is included for a User Name, the User will log into Amlib in the usual way. Use the table below to assist with setting the mapping. If a Domain Username is set, and the Amlib.ini file is set for mapping and the User will login using this authentication (i.e. according to a Domain\User name combination) automatically

Set the Amlib.ini Configuration File
- An Amlib.ini file is located in the Windows folder (usually on the C:/drive) – for example C:/Windows/Amlib.ini
- Open the Amlib.ini file using a text editor like Notepad or WordPad
- Locate the section labeled SPECIAL and enter as below:
Section = [SPECIAL]
AuthenticationMode=ActiveDirectory
Please Note: This defaults to LIVE database unless an alternative target has been set
The usual Amlib.ini file Special section will display like this:
[SPECIAL]
Noversion=y
DatabaseUser=sysadm (Note: this is often in encrypted form)
DatabasePw=sysadm (Note: this is often in encrypted form)
AuthenticationMode=ActiveDirectory
Please Note: If the Database description is not the LIVE Database but has a different description – for example, in Libraries where there are multiple databases e.g. Primary and Secondary, a line displaying the Active Directory Target Database can be used. For example –
ActiveDirectoryTargetDb=PRIMARY
[SPECIAL]
Noversion=y
DatabaseUser=sysadm (Note: this is often in encrypted form)
DatabasePw=sysadm (Note: this is often in encrypted form)
AuthenticationMode=ActiveDirectory
ActiveDirectoryTargetDb=PRIMARY
- Once these steps are followed, the User can log into Amlib by just double clicking on the Icon and selecting the Login Location
