Subject heading vocabularies are not being hidden as desired when viewing a record from the search results

Symptom
  • You have certain subject heading vocabularies set in the Service Configuration to be hidden behind the "Show More" button in Discovery, but when you view the record from a search results list, all of the subject heading vocabularies are showing.
Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Resolution

These subject heading vocabularies are showing due to the metadata configuration and search highlighting features in WorldCat Discovery. If your search term is included in one of the hidden subjects, Discovery automatically expands all of the subjects so the user can see why the record was included in their search results.

When you view the record from a permalink or an exact OCLC number search, for example, these subjects will be hidden, as no search terms can be found in the subjects.

If the subject heading vocabularies are not being hidden as desired, please contact OCLC Support with your OCLC Symbol and detailed replication steps of your search.
