View abbreviated title with the Marc 210 field 

Users can now view abbreviated title on the Item Details page in WorldCat Discovery through the addition of the MARC 210 field. 

Details 

When present in a record, abbreviated titles will display in the Item Details section of the Discovery interface. 

The following subfields are displayed: 

• $a: Abbreviated title. This field is indexed and searchable.  

• $b: Qualifying information. This field is not indexed.  

• $6: Links to non-Latin script versions via the associated MARC 880 field. The linked content will display when available.  

If multiple abbreviated titles exist, each will appear on its own line under a single label. Additionally, search terms are highlighted within this field on the search results page and item details page to help users quickly identify relevant matches. 

Configuration 

The 210 field is demoted by default but can be reordered within Service Configuration > WorldCat Discovery and WorldCat Local > Item Detail Settings > Reorder Data Fields. 

View updated display of genre/form source code, rvmgf  

Genre/Form source code, rvmgf, now displays as Thésaurus des descripteurs de genre/forme de l'Université Laval to align with the Library of Congress display. It was previously labeled Répertoire de Vedettes-Matière Genre Form. The new title will display on the item details page and in service configuration

Series hyperlink now search complete series information 

When a user selects a series hyperlink on the item details page, the system now searches using the complete hyperlinked series text exactly as displayed. This includes all subfields, such as volume numbers or additional descriptors, even when separated by punctuation or presented in non-Latin scripts. The search query now reflects the full string (for example, se:敦煌寶藏 ; 第54冊. or se:Wittgenstein-Studien ; 1.), ensuring precise results. 

Previously, the search only included the first subfield of the series, truncating any additional information. For example, a series displayed as “敦煌寶藏 ; 第54冊.” would result in a search for only se:敦煌寶藏 ;, and “Wittgenstein-Studien 1” would search as se:Wittgenstein-Studien, which could lead to incomplete or missing results. 

Access buttons now display correctly when navigating between records  

When navigating between records using the next and previous arrows, the Access option buttons now display the correct text for each item. The Access Options panel and Access Online table remain in sync and reflect the appropriate label, such as “View PDF” or “View full text.” 

Previously, the CTA text could carry over from a previously viewed record, resulting in incorrect labels when returning to an item. In some cases, the Access Options panel and Access Online table were out of sync.

Include Request ID with problem reports

When reporting an issue with WorldCat Discovery, it is extremely helpful to include the Request ID. The Request ID is found at the bottom of the screen on which the issue occurred. Including this information allows us to directly trace what happened on the request we are troubleshooting.
