New features and enhancements

Customizable library announcements

This release adds support for displaying a library-configured banner message on the app Welcome screen. When your library adds a Banner alert/notification in the Staff Dashboard, the text is shown prominently on the Welcome screen so your patrons can see timely announcements.

Benefits

  • Your staff will be able to surface timely announcements (closures, events, alerts) directly on the app Welcome screen without requiring a separate push notification.
  • Your patrons will be able to quickly read banner text at app launch, improving information delivery for time-sensitive messages.
  • When no banner text is present in the Staff Dashboard, the banner area and extra spacing is not present on the Welcome screen.

Impact

  • Your staff will be able to reduce inbound support calls and questions because patrons see the library’s banner messages immediately on app open.
  • Your patrons will be able to rely on a non-intrusive banner; the app layout won’t change when no banner is configured, so user experience remains consistent.
  • Your library will be able to ensure important announcements reach patrons who open the app without needing to push separate in-app content or notifications.

Configuration

  • To show a banner, add the banner text to your library’s Staff Dashboard.
    • The Banner configuration can be found by going to Alerts/Notifications > Banner
    • The banner will only display if there is text in the body of the message.
    • If relevant, your library can add a link to a webpage that provides more information. This will display as a "Read More" link in the banner.
    • The accent color on the left matches the Standard Button Background Color set in the Styles section of the Staff Dashboard.
  • If your user taps the dismiss 'X' in the corner, the alert will be dismissed until the next time the app is restarted.
  • If you do not want a banner shown, leave the banner text empty; the app will render no banner area and will not change layout spacing.
  • Ensure the banner text is concise and adheres to the 256-character limits.

Accessibility improvements to Staff Dashboard

We have remediated all issues identified in the April 2024 accessibility conformance review (ACR) for the Staff Dashboard. While accessibility is an ongoing effort and additional reviews may identify new opportunities for improvement, we remain committed to continuous testing and prompt remediation. If you encounter accessibility issues, please contact our Support team.

Non‑editable receipt attachment for mobile checkout

To prevent your customers from altering checkout receipt content in email and to provide a tamper‑resistant record of transactions, the checkout receipt content will now be sent as a non‑editable attachment rather than editable inline text in the message body.

Benefits

  • Your staff will be able to rely on receipts that are delivered as tamper‑resistant attachments, improving confidence in the authenticity of emailed checkout records, reducing disputes where patrons submit edited emails with different due dates or transaction details.

Impact

  • Your staff will be able to expect fewer cases where edited email body content is presented as evidence of altered due dates or checkout details.
  • Patrons will receive the receipt as an attachment.

Bug fixes

iOS search results navigation

After viewing an item detail, navigating back now returns your users to the populated list of search results. Previously, on iOS devices, navigating back from an item detail view after performing a catalog search incorrectly displayed the blank landing page screen with only the search term visible and no results.

iOS holds for More Collections carousel items

The “Place a Hold” button now works as expected from all carousel click-throughs, including those on the More Collections screen. Previously, on iOS, the “Place a Hold” button was non-functional when accessing an item detail page via a carousel on the More Collections screen. The bug prevented users from initiating the hold process after clicking through from these carousels. The problem was isolated to iOS and did not affect Android or carousels on the Welcome screen.

Event filter settings are saved in Staff Dashboard

Newly added branch filters save correctly and persist after page reloads, allowing event filtering to work as intended. Previously, filters for events were not being saved. When users attempted to add a new filter under Options > Events Filters, entering a name and pressing the Save button would reload the page, revert to the Categories tab, and discard the changes. This bug prevented libraries from adding new event filters.

iOS all accounts display when placing holds

All accounts loaded into the app appear in the account selection list when placing holds, restoring normal navigation and cancel functionality. Previously, on iOS, not all accounts added to the app appeared as selectable options when placing a hold. Users with three or more library cards could only see two accounts on the “Choose an Account” page when initiating a hold request. Attempts to add the missing account using the “Add Account” button resulted in an “Account already exists” error, followed by the app freezing and the “Cancel” button becoming unresponsive.
