Connexion client: Bibliographic searching 1:37 pm - 3:12 pm Tuesday, November 7, 2023 | (UTC-04:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) WEBVTT 1 Crystal Rodriguez 00:25:54.620 --> 00:26:10.620 Okay, so again, welcome to today's session on connection client and bloographic searching. So this online class provides instructions on how to use connection client to perform searches for bibly graphic records. 2 Crystal Rodriguez 00:26:11.620 --> 00:26:12.740 Database. 3 Crystal Rodriguez 00:26:19.580 --> 00:26:40.700 After this class, you should be able to list the available search methods in connection client, describe and navigate the search result list and connection client, determine the best search to make determine whether a given record is a match for an item. You should be able to use numeric and keyword searching. 4 Crystal Rodriguez 00:26:40.980 --> 00:27:01.820 Find matching role cat records to be able to limit searches with qualifiers such as your year and format. You should be able to perform phrase searches and then also use the searching role CAT indexes documentation to help construct complex searches and then lastly, we'll. 5 Crystal Rodriguez 00:27:01.860 --> 00:27:06.860 Touch on conducting complex searches in the command line search area. 6 Crystal Rodriguez 00:27:13.340 --> 00:27:33.820 Connection client, you can search online being interactive or offline in batch mode. You can perform interactive searches while online and search results display immediately or you can perform batch searches, offline and view your search results from a local. 7 Crystal Rodriguez 00:27:33.940 --> 00:27:52.420 File today, we will demonstrate searching online, but many of the techniques we demonstrate are applicable to offline batch searching. We will cover the mechanics for offline batch searching in our save files, file management and batch processing class at a later date. 8 Crystal Rodriguez 00:27:56.860 --> 00:28:14.140 So within connection client, there are three methods for opening up a search box. You can use the quick search tool as seen on the screen here. You can use the command line search or you can use the keyword numeric search with the drop down options. 9 Crystal Rodriguez 00:28:14.260 --> 00:28:34.620 There, the quick search and command line search are separate areas for any searches, but they function the same, so you users must generate the entire search that being the indexes search terms, limiters, et cetera in a search box, and this can be good for simple searches, like. 10 Crystal Rodriguez 00:28:34.660 --> 00:28:52.500 Numeric searches or for experienced searches the keyword numeric search area contains text boxes and bolly and operators to guide users in constructing search queries. This is good for beginning searchers or complex searches. 11 Crystal Rodriguez 00:28:58.940 --> 00:29:16.740 There are multiple ways to open up the search dialog box to do that. You can either press F- two on your keyboard, You can use the menu options by clicking on catalogging then search, and then we're all cat or you can use the toolbar option as well. 12 Crystal Rodriguez 00:29:21.340 --> 00:29:38.620 In connection client, the system default displays your search results based on the number of records retrieved. So if you are search retrieves anywhere between a hundred and one to fifteen hundred records, then you will get a group list. 13 Crystal Rodriguez 00:29:38.620 --> 00:29:50.260 Each group is sorted by format in date and you can select a group to view a list of records within the group and you can see an example of a group list result here on the screen. 14 Crystal Rodriguez 00:29:53.980 --> 00:30:06.060 If your search results in anywhere from six to one hundred records, then you're going to get a truncated list and from this list you can select to open and view a full record. 15 Crystal Rodriguez 00:30:11.260 --> 00:30:24.940 If you have two to five records returned, then your display is going to be a brief list and that is gonna be similar to that truncated list where you're going to select to open and view a full record. 16 Crystal Rodriguez 00:30:28.380 --> 00:30:38.460 And then of course, if your search results in just one single record, then you're gonna get that full record result and so that will display. 17 Crystal Rodriguez 00:30:48.220 --> 00:31:05.500 So also within connection client, there is an option for changing your settings to ensure that if you have a preference on how you, what type of list you would like to show, you can set the default to one of those options. 18 Crystal Rodriguez 00:31:06.180 --> 00:31:19.820 And there will be information on how to do that in the learner guide that I'm actually going to go ahead and add that link to our chat here in just a moment. We'll grab that for you. 19 Crystal Rodriguez 00:31:26.620 --> 00:31:36.780 Okay, so I've added that link to the learner guide and as I said, there is instructions in there on how to make that setting change if you prefer to do, so. 20 Crystal Rodriguez 00:31:43.900 --> 00:32:03.140 Okay, so there's a few things that go into choosing the best search for your item. so you need to consider what information is available to you. Do you have the item in hand? Are you the cataloger or are you ordering the item as the in acquisitions? 21 Crystal Rodriguez 00:32:04.460 --> 00:32:24.220 Does the item have a number such as an ISSN, an ISPN, etc. If there isn't a number, what else can you search by how easy is it to determine the author title publisher et cetera. Do you have the title page of a book? In that case, it would be re. 22 Crystal Rodriguez 00:32:26.780 --> 00:32:33.180 If it's a DVD CD or a rare book, maybe a little harder to find that information. 23 Crystal Rodriguez 00:32:34.660 --> 00:32:39.300 But almost always you're going to try a number search first. 24 Crystal Rodriguez 00:32:44.060 --> 00:33:01.340 So when you're searching for iter items in world CAT via connection client, especially for the purposes of copy catalogging, it is best to match items to the following fields in the mark record that represent them. So you're going to be looking at the two forty- five field or the title statement. the. 25 Crystal Rodriguez 00:33:01.780 --> 00:33:21.820 Fifty addition statement. The two sixty or two sixty- four publication, the three hundred physical description and the O- four o- field, specifically the Subfield B, which is the language of catalogging. It's important to note that a significant difference in any of these fields between the. 26 Crystal Rodriguez 00:33:22.180 --> 00:33:42.300 To be cataloged and the billygraphic record means that the record is not a match for complete rules for matching. You'll want to review the bibliographic standards formats and standards chapter four and that link is included in the learner guide that I have sent. 27 Crystal Rodriguez 00:33:43.060 --> 00:33:44.860 In the chat. 28 Crystal Rodriguez 00:33:51.900 --> 00:33:56.300 Okay, so we're gonna talk a little bit about Numeric searches then. 29 Crystal Rodriguez 00:33:58.940 --> 00:34:18.139 Numeric searching is the easiest and most efficient type of searching in world cat. This is the one that's most likely to result in one or just a few records. The most common number searches include the ISPN or the international standard book number. This is typically found on the back of title pages or. 30 Crystal Rodriguez 00:34:18.899 --> 00:34:39.260 On back hovers, the ISSN, the International Standard Serial number, which is typically found on the back of table of contents in magazines or journals or the first section of a newspaper, and then there's the OCLC control number, the OCLC number is an accession number. 31 Crystal Rodriguez 00:34:39.260 --> 00:34:49.340 Assigned by the system when a record is added to Worldcad and in your local system that is often in the O- one or the O- three, five field. 32 Crystal Rodriguez 00:34:51.419 --> 00:34:56.179 I'm gonna go ahead and open up connection and do some of these searches for you. 33 Crystal Rodriguez 00:34:59.740 --> 00:35:15.300 Now I should note that I am using connection three point one. You may be using an older version, so some of the settings may be a little different also. I may have some customizations, but for the most part, our screen should look pretty similar. 34 Crystal Rodriguez 00:35:19.580 --> 00:35:33.500 So I've already logged into connection and as I had shown earlier, there's multiple ways to open up the search dialogue box. So I'm gonna start here by clicking on the toolbar option. 35 Crystal Rodriguez 00:35:38.140 --> 00:35:41.220 I'm going to go ahead and enter a search there. 36 Crystal Rodriguez 00:35:49.020 --> 00:35:57.420 I'm searching for an ISPN when I search for an ISPN. I don't need to put any type of qualifier. Oh, there is a problem I haven't signed in yet. 37 Crystal Rodriguez 00:35:58.660 --> 00:36:01.260 There we go. Now get my results. 38 Crystal Rodriguez 00:36:10.140 --> 00:36:28.700 Okay, I'm gonna go close out of that real quick and I'm going to open up that dialogue box using the catalogging search and then we're all cap menu and here you can see the command line search option and the keyword numeric search option. So those are those three options that we mentioned earlier for search. 39 Crystal Rodriguez 00:36:33.180 --> 00:36:36.740 I want to go back to my ISPN search for a moment. 40 Crystal Rodriguez 00:36:38.700 --> 00:36:41.740 No, note that I get several records here. 41 Crystal Rodriguez 00:36:42.780 --> 00:36:48.180 And you can tell up at the top that, that does show a search a truncated list. 42 Crystal Rodriguez 00:36:51.740 --> 00:36:59.020 So to open one of these records, I'm just going to click on the record that I want to open and I'll double click that to open it. 43 Crystal Rodriguez 00:37:02.620 --> 00:37:20.540 I just want to point out here that the ISPN is typically found in the O- two o- field that's going to be in the Subfield A, but Subfield Z is also searchable. also if the last character of an ISPN is an X that is a checked digit and should be included in your. 44 Crystal Rodriguez 00:37:22.100 --> 00:37:23.580 Case sensitive. 45 Crystal Rodriguez 00:37:30.780 --> 00:37:33.100 Let me go ahead out there. 46 Crystal Rodriguez 00:37:37.820 --> 00:37:55.100 So, a couple of things to think about when you're searching ISPN, generally that will retrieve fewer records in rural cat for you to examine, and then you will want to review the different fields to determine is that your match? Let me show you. Let me go ahead and open up that record again. 47 Crystal Rodriguez 00:37:55.740 --> 00:38:15.580 And we can take a look at some of those fields. So if I scroll down here, I will see the two forty- five field. So I wanted to determine does this match my record, the item that I have in hand? Does the publisher year match the data in the two sixty or two sixty four field? Is there an addition. 48 Crystal Rodriguez 00:38:15.660 --> 00:38:30.260 Statement if so does that match? The right, The item that I have and does the pagination match again. Sticking with those rules that are mentioned in the format. The bibographic format and standards. Okay. 49 Crystal Rodriguez 00:38:34.140 --> 00:38:41.420 So I'm closing out of this search and I'm going to go ahead and use that menu option again to open up the bar. 50 Crystal Rodriguez 00:38:43.140 --> 00:38:59.660 Here I'm going to search an ISSN number. I'm gonna do that in the command line search. I do need to enter I n, which is the index for ISPN. I'm sorry, ISSN, and then I'm going to enter in the ISSN number. 51 Crystal Rodriguez 00:39:02.980 --> 00:39:17.220 And I can just hit enter or okay, here to search that and you'll note that I get back group list results. I'm going to click on the first grouping here and that'll open up to a truncated list. 52 Crystal Rodriguez 00:39:20.220 --> 00:39:22.820 And I'm gonn this one here. 53 Crystal Rodriguez 00:39:24.060 --> 00:39:44.540 And you'll note in the O- two, two field, that's where the ISSN is located and again, that's usually going to be in the Subfield A, but the Subfield Z is also searchable and if there is an X in your ISSN, you do need to include that and you also need to include the hyphen in your search as well. 54 Crystal Rodriguez 00:39:47.740 --> 00:39:48.860 Okay. 55 Crystal Rodriguez 00:39:52.860 --> 00:40:07.540 And then another type of a number search that we mentioned was the OCLC number search. So since the OCLC number is unique, it is the most precise search, if you know, the OCLC number, you're going to want to always use that for your search. 56 Crystal Rodriguez 00:40:08.980 --> 00:40:18.540 An efficient search to use to find Worldcat records to delete holdings would also be that OCLC number search. 57 Crystal Rodriguez 00:40:22.300 --> 00:40:40.220 So opening up my search dialogue, I'm gonna clear my previous search and here I know that my OCLC number, I have that from a previous search, so I'm gonna enter that into the command line and for OCLC numbers, you do have to either enter. 58 Crystal Rodriguez 00:40:41.440 --> 00:40:47.200 A pound sign or the index of No, I'm gonna go ahead and just do asterisk. 59 Crystal Rodriguez 00:40:54.240 --> 00:40:59.960 And I'm going to hit enter here and I get back just that one result. 60 Crystal Rodriguez 00:41:03.200 --> 00:41:17.920 And here within OC, in Worldcat and connection, I see the OCLC number at the top of the screen. Most library catalogs or Ios is going to have that, either in the O- one or the O- three, five. 61 Crystal Rodriguez 00:41:19.840 --> 00:41:25.080 Okay, I'm gonna jump back over to my Powerpoint real quick. 62 Crystal Rodriguez 00:41:27.520 --> 00:41:36.640 I'm gonna talk about a different type of searching. So here we're gonna talk a little bit about keyword searching using the keyword Numeric search. 63 Crystal Rodriguez 00:41:39.040 --> 00:41:58.240 So the keyword search is retrieve records that contain the words you enter in any order and not necessarily adjacent in the fields and subfields search by a specific index keyword searches can be done in the command line search for the quick search tool. 64 Crystal Rodriguez 00:41:58.880 --> 00:42:15.760 It can also be done in that keyword numeric search area to search keywords in the keyword numeric search area. You're going to type the words you want to search in the search terms box and then you'll select the index from the drop down. I'll demonstrate that shortly. 65 Crystal Rodriguez 00:42:18.720 --> 00:42:38.520 Also on the screen here you'll see some frequently used keyword indexes. some of those being au- Colin for the author, the CN colon for Conference S. U. for subject et cetera. So these are some of those commonly used indexes. 66 Crystal Rodriguez 00:42:44.440 --> 00:42:56.720 Also pointing out that the, some of the fields that are searched here. So you're author index that's gonna search your one hundreds your seven hundreds and it will also search the two forty- five. 67 Crystal Rodriguez 00:42:57.760 --> 00:43:18.240 The corporate name is searching the one ten and the seven ten fields. The personal name is only searching the one hundred and seven hundred fields serials are searching the four ninety and a few of your eight hundred fields and the subjects are gonna search those six hundred subject fields, and then your title is searching the one. 68 Crystal Rodriguez 00:43:18.880 --> 00:43:29.400 Two forty and two forty- six fields and we'll go later in the session. We'll talk some more about how you can determine exactly which fields are being indexed there. 69 Crystal Rodriguez 00:43:33.600 --> 00:43:50.880 Okay, so with the item in hand, we can search world Cat to find a matching record. So let's assume that this item does not have a number and we need to search world cat using another way, so we have our item here of Reader come home by Maryanne Wolf. 70 Crystal Rodriguez 00:43:51.520 --> 00:43:53.840 I'm gonna go ahead and go over to connection. 71 Crystal Rodriguez 00:43:58.560 --> 00:44:03.360 And I'm going to open a search box. I'm gonna do the F- two function. 72 Crystal Rodriguez 00:44:12.640 --> 00:44:13.760 Okay. 73 Crystal Rodriguez 00:44:15.840 --> 00:44:35.680 So there are some settings to consider while using connection client to search world cat and here on our screen, we can see a couple of those. The first one is your retained search setting. You may want to retain previous searches in connection client, but you have to remember to clear out the terms limiters or qualifiers. 74 Crystal Rodriguez 00:44:35.760 --> 00:44:56.160 That you've retained, otherwise they will be included in future searches where they may not be wanted, but this is useful if you don't get an expected search result because of a typo, then that case you would only need to correct the typo without retyping your entire search. It's also useful if you get too many results. 75 Crystal Rodriguez 00:44:57.480 --> 00:45:06.120 Then you could refine your search without having to retype your entire search. So I'm going to go ahead and check that. retain search box. 76 Crystal Rodriguez 00:45:08.960 --> 00:45:28.160 Another area here that we can do a little customization is within the indexes and limits. So like any large database limiting it and qualifying your search of world cat is oftentimes necessary to find the record that you're looking for, so you can set customize. 77 Crystal Rodriguez 00:45:28.200 --> 00:45:33.320 The indexes limiters and qualifiers available to you. 78 Crystal Rodriguez 00:45:35.200 --> 00:45:41.080 To give you quick access to those indexes, limiters or qualifiers that you use most often. 79 Crystal Rodriguez 00:45:42.880 --> 00:46:03.360 So to do that, we're gonna look in the keyword numeric search area and right now you'll notice that I'm showing fewer results here. I'm going to click on this first box that is looks like a few lines with a pencil and I see the ten default short list of. 80 Crystal Rodriguez 00:46:04.640 --> 00:46:23.600 So here I can move some of these up and down, let's say I want the title to be first I can click on title and then click move up until it gets to where I want it to be. I can also click on modify and I can choose different options here. 81 Crystal Rodriguez 00:46:23.840 --> 00:46:32.720 So maybe I don't want to have the serial showing. I can scroll down to that. 82 Crystal Rodriguez 00:46:37.920 --> 00:46:47.600 And I can just remove that and maybe I choose to add the genre instead, and I'm going to go ahead and click. Okay. 83 Crystal Rodriguez 00:46:49.480 --> 00:47:06.280 Also can remove items more easily here. So, instead of having to scroll down, like I just did, let's say now I'm like, yeah, I really don't need that genre. I'm gonna go ahead and click on that and remove it. Just quick remove there. So I like my list as it is. I'm gonna go ahead and click. okay. 84 Crystal Rodriguez 00:47:08.640 --> 00:47:25.360 And so now when I use the drop- down, I just see the small list if I need to see the full long list, again, I would just click on the plus that's next to that customized box and by doing that, I then can see all of the available indexes. 85 Crystal Rodriguez 00:47:32.480 --> 00:47:49.160 You can also do that same process with the material type. So, again, clicking on that customized material type and I can choose which material types I have as my default, I can move those around or re- add or remove as well. 86 Crystal Rodriguez 00:47:50.240 --> 00:47:55.000 And I can click on the plus minus to be able to see the short list or the long list. 87 Crystal Rodriguez 00:47:57.280 --> 00:48:17.120 Okay, so with those customizations in place, I'm going to go ahead and start searching for our book. Remember the title was Reader come home. So here in the keyword numeric search I'm going to search Reader come home. I'm going to. 88 Crystal Rodriguez 00:48:17.160 --> 00:48:21.560 Change my drop down from the subject to the title. 89 Crystal Rodriguez 00:48:23.520 --> 00:48:25.600 And then I'm just gonna click, okay. 90 Crystal Rodriguez 00:48:29.280 --> 00:48:47.120 Now when I do that, you'll note that I get quite a few records here and that's quite a bit to be looking through. So I want to go ahead and limit a little bit more gonna go ahead. open up that box again, and because I clicked on retained search, my previous search is still there. 91 Crystal Rodriguez 00:48:47.840 --> 00:48:52.960 So I'm gonna leave the title, but this time I'm gonna add the author's name. 92 Crystal Rodriguez 00:48:54.320 --> 00:49:08.040 When I'm searching here in this index, I can just add first name last name and I already have the personal name here I'm gonna use that personal name index so that I'm looking for more than just the one hundred and seven hundred fields. 93 Crystal Rodriguez 00:49:09.600 --> 00:49:23.520 I'm sorry, I apologize The, the personal name is going to retrieve records that are only in that one hundred and seven hundred field. If I wanted a broader search, then I would use the author index. 94 Crystal Rodriguez 00:49:28.160 --> 00:49:45.440 So, doing a keyword search for both the title and the author. Our personal name is going to retrieve a little bit of a smaller set. So let me go ahead and hit enter and we note that now I get fifty seven records so that is smaller, but it's still a little bit more than what I wouldn't be able to work. 95 Crystal Rodriguez 00:49:46.800 --> 00:50:04.640 Before I do move on though, I wanna go ahead and open one of these and show you that our search of marianne wolf is in the one hundred field and our title here is in the two forty five. So that's what's being searched when we're using those indexes. 96 Crystal Rodriguez 00:50:06.040 --> 00:50:07.840 Close out of that. 97 Crystal Rodriguez 00:50:12.960 --> 00:50:16.000 And I'm gonna open my search box again. 98 Crystal Rodriguez 00:50:18.080 --> 00:50:29.280 So, because world cat is a very large database qualifiers or limiters are, are important for efficient searching and limiting the results retrieved. 99 Crystal Rodriguez 00:50:31.560 --> 00:50:51.360 Here on the screen, you can see some of those qualifiers and I'm gonna walk through a few of those. So there's the language of resource qualifier. This means the language that the book is written in or what language is the item is sung, if it's a song, a sound recording or what. 100 Crystal Rodriguez 00:50:53.240 --> 00:51:00.800 In a DVD, for example, and then there is the language of catalogging description. 101 Crystal Rodriguez 00:51:04.240 --> 00:51:17.320 Language that the mark record or the physical description or notes et cetera is in the resource may or may not be in that same language. I'm gonna go ahead and check that box. 102 Crystal Rodriguez 00:51:21.400 --> 00:51:31.240 Do you want to note that when you do check that box, your setting remains in effect for all Worldcat searches from session, unless you change that. 103 Crystal Rodriguez 00:51:36.120 --> 00:51:52.760 And I do see a question here, bear with me, Just a moment. Take a look at that. What would broader author mean, so that would mean that your results would be looking for that name in the two forty- five subfields, as well as the one hundreds. 104 Crystal Rodriguez 00:51:54.160 --> 00:52:08.800 The seven tens. So it's looking for the personal, the name that you've searched in other areas of the record and we will review a little bit of that later in the session as well. Yeah, you're welcome. 105 Crystal Rodriguez 00:52:10.680 --> 00:52:21.560 Okay, so getting back here to our applying, the language of callogging Limitar, There is the drop- down here that allows you to choose a different language. I'm gonna go ahead and keep minus English. 106 Crystal Rodriguez 00:52:24.120 --> 00:52:43.960 Also a note here. This setting applies whether you're entering searches in the quick search box, the command line or the keyword numeric search. So if you have checked this for this session, it will remain in place, regardless of how you're searching we do it is highly recommended to use this limiter to limit search results. 107 Crystal Rodriguez 00:52:44.120 --> 00:52:47.840 Records that are cataloged in your libraries preferred language. 108 Crystal Rodriguez 00:52:51.000 --> 00:52:54.920 So another option is the source. 109 Crystal Rodriguez 00:52:56.800 --> 00:53:10.040 You can choose here any source or specifically DLC the value of DLC Retrieves records cataloged by the Library of Congress or by Library of Congress cooperative program members. 110 Crystal Rodriguez 00:53:13.400 --> 00:53:27.960 You also have the option to add years, You can add a single year, a range of years or you can add an open range. So if I were to put in two thousand ten dash, that would search two thousand ten to present. 111 Crystal Rodriguez 00:53:31.320 --> 00:53:38.400 Then there's the format. This is the general physical format of your material. So that would be your books visual. 112 Crystal Rodriguez 00:53:39.640 --> 00:53:41.280 Maps, et cetera. 113 Crystal Rodriguez 00:53:45.400 --> 00:54:03.320 And then lastly, here is the material type keep in mind that the material type includes physical formats such as CT, audio DVD video. It also includes the audience adolescent juvenile et cetera, or the publication type. So, is this a. 114 Crystal Rodriguez 00:54:03.480 --> 00:54:15.960 Ography or conference publications. So all of those are gonna be listed here and if you don't see the full list, you can click on that plus sign to get the full list of options. 115 Crystal Rodriguez 00:54:20.600 --> 00:54:37.880 Okay, so with these qualifiers in mind, I'm going to go ahead and use a few of these to limit my previous search a bit further because I, as I said, I've gotten fifty seven records before, so I want to try to get a few less records here, so I'm looking for English language of item. 116 Crystal Rodriguez 00:54:38.520 --> 00:54:52.720 And the language of catalogging down here is already selected. So I'm gonna change the language of catalogging to English. I'm sorry, language of item to English and then the language of calogging is already set to English as well. 117 Crystal Rodriguez 00:54:56.440 --> 00:55:11.200 And I'm gonna click, okay, and I get twenty- two results much easier to work with, but I want to refine it even further, so opening up my search box again. 118 Crystal Rodriguez 00:55:13.080 --> 00:55:24.000 I'm going to add the format of books and then I'm gonna add the date of two thousand eighteen. I'm gonna hit, okay. 119 Crystal Rodriguez 00:55:25.240 --> 00:55:45.720 And now I only get eleven records. So this is a much more manageable set of results to examine and to be able to determine which ones of these are a match. I also want to point out as we're working here, if you look at the top of connection, you can see how that search bar changes. So you. 120 Crystal Rodriguez 00:55:46.840 --> 00:56:06.200 How your selections are being searched. So I'm gonna get a little bit more refined here. I'm gonna take my search and do one more change to it. So I've got everything here that set the way that I pre- released previously had searched. I'm going to choose the source of. 121 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:06.960 --> 00:56:12.280 Because I want to make sure that I get LC cataloged records. 122 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:13.880 --> 00:56:24.880 So when I do that, I then just get the one record and the OCLC number is displayed at the top for me here, and I can scroll through a little bit. 123 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:26.040 --> 00:56:36.200 And here you'll see Mary an wolf in the one hundred field and in the two forty- five Subfield C- as well here. We've got our title. 124 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:38.200 --> 00:56:48.120 And our publication information is matching and then our O- four, o- Subfield B also matches and our three hundred matches. 125 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:49.720 --> 00:56:53.240 So this is going to be the matching record that I need. 126 Crystal Rodriguez 00:56:54.200 --> 00:57:05.640 Or my item, and here on this screen, you can see those matches again, in a little bit of a clear view, so you can see the addition statement as well. 127 Crystal Rodriguez 00:57:07.640 --> 00:57:23.520 Okay, now I'm gonna throw it back and have you guys do some searching. So here's an example. I'm going to open up a poll for you and you can actually just use my screen here. Kind of review the different options. 128 Crystal Rodriguez 00:57:26.840 --> 00:57:29.680 All right, so you should be seeing the poll. 129 Crystal Rodriguez 00:57:33.880 --> 00:57:39.800 So if you can go ahead and indicate your answer there, we'll give you a few minutes to work through this. 130 Crystal Rodriguez 00:59:33.560 --> 00:59:40.920 Okay, looks like just about everyone had a chance to answer that. So let's review that together. 131 Crystal Rodriguez 00:59:48.280 --> 00:59:51.760 And so the correct answer is number two. 132 Crystal Rodriguez 00:59:53.400 --> 01:00:12.680 So little information on that. So the first record is for an online resource, possibly an audio book file and the location and publisher do not match the information that we have down here, screen record three is a match for an audio CD. 133 Crystal Rodriguez 01:00:13.280 --> 01:00:33.720 But also the publication location and publisher in the two sixty four do not match. So therefore, record two is the best match, the title information in the two, forty- five matches, the publication in the two sixty- four field matches and the physical description closely matches the item. This is a good point. 134 Crystal Rodriguez 01:00:33.920 --> 01:00:51.920 To point out that a slight change imagination is not in and of itself and only reason for an item to not be a match, and again, you can refer back to the bibiographic formats in standards chapter four for more information on that. 135 Crystal Rodriguez 01:00:54.240 --> 01:00:56.320 More exercise here. 136 Crystal Rodriguez 01:00:58.560 --> 01:01:03.520 I'm gonna go ahead and open up that poll for you once again, so you can add your answer. 137 Crystal Rodriguez 01:01:04.960 --> 01:01:07.160 Bear with me here. 138 Crystal Rodriguez 01:01:14.560 --> 01:01:15.680 Okay. 139 Crystal Rodriguez 01:01:19.680 --> 01:01:31.800 I apologize my poll is not opening. So if you don't mind, just adding your answer one, two, three or four into the chat, we can look for it that way. I do apologize for that. 140 Crystal Rodriguez 01:01:42.080 --> 01:01:47.920 Yes, and if you, if you feel more comfortable, you can set that send that privately as well. 141 Crystal Rodriguez 01:02:07.040 --> 01:02:11.560 I see quite a few answers coming through. We'll just give it another minute or so. 142 Crystal Rodriguez 01:02:20.480 --> 01:02:30.120 Okay, I think just about everyone had a chance to answer that, and it looks like, yes, you all got that one? That is, in fact, number four. 143 Crystal Rodriguez 01:02:35.840 --> 01:02:51.840 So for this item record number one would be a match if you had the large print, which we do not records two and three are matches for online resources, and then the fourth one is the best match. Also, this record indicates that. 144 Crystal Rodriguez 01:02:51.920 --> 01:02:56.320 This is for a first edition, which does, in fact match our item. 145 Crystal Rodriguez 01:03:10.400 --> 01:03:16.360 All right, all right, I'm gonna go ahead and go back to our presentation here. 146 Crystal Rodriguez 01:03:25.760 --> 01:03:30.560 So another option for searching is to use phrase searches. 147 Crystal Rodriguez 01:03:32.200 --> 01:03:52.640 You can use phrase searches to be more precise, which is, especially useful for search keys that are short or consist of common words, phrase searches look for exactly what you type in order left to right in a subfield. You don't leave out any word so that you don't need to worry about stop words. 148 Crystal Rodriguez 01:03:53.320 --> 01:04:08.800 Personal name, phrase searches. You're going to enter the last name first, then you're gonna include the comma and space between the last name and first name. So here our example would be wolf comma space, Mary Ann. 149 Crystal Rodriguez 01:04:12.480 --> 01:04:22.200 Also you must type all of the words in the sub- field to search by the index, you choose or you can use a truncation, which is the Astrask symbol. 150 Crystal Rodriguez 01:04:29.120 --> 01:04:49.480 So some comment phrase indexes include, and I'm kind of get to my page here. Some common phrase indexes include the name author, excuse me, the personal name, the series, the subject, the title. 151 Crystal Rodriguez 01:04:50.880 --> 01:05:07.000 Bear with me here. I apologize. So if your item has titles with the same words or phrase search a phrase search is more useful and precise to perform in connection client. So let's assume that we have this item here tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. 152 Crystal Rodriguez 01:05:08.800 --> 01:05:19.440 And then it's in the link, it's in English and we have our publisher information publication in our pages. I'm gonna go over to connection and we're gonna do a little searching. 153 Crystal Rodriguez 01:05:25.440 --> 01:05:26.640 All right. 154 Crystal Rodriguez 01:05:29.280 --> 01:05:32.640 I'm going to open up the search box. 155 Crystal Rodriguez 01:05:33.760 --> 01:05:36.440 I'm gonna clear my previous search. 156 Crystal Rodriguez 01:05:42.080 --> 01:05:57.080 And I want to in the keyword search, I'm gonna type just the word tomorrow tomorrow and then tomorrow again as our, our item had those three words in it. 157 Crystal Rodriguez 01:06:03.840 --> 01:06:06.760 I'm going to select the language of English. 158 Crystal Rodriguez 01:06:09.600 --> 01:06:12.480 Add the year of twenty- twenty- two. 159 Crystal Rodriguez 01:06:21.120 --> 01:06:39.040 And then I'm going to hit enter and here I get a group list with over eleven hundred results. I'm gonna double click on that books list to open that up and I want to note here you get this error. Well, not error. just a message letting. 160 Crystal Rodriguez 01:06:39.280 --> 01:06:54.440 You know, that your search resulted in nine hundred sixty- two records and that we're gonna display the first one hundred to view the next one hundred you would need to go to the view menu and select the next one hundred records. 161 Crystal Rodriguez 01:06:58.240 --> 01:07:13.480 So, whether you enter tomorrow once or three times connection client only searches on one instance of this entered word, these titles all have tomorrow somewhere in the title, but they don't necessarily begin with tomorrow. 162 Crystal Rodriguez 01:07:14.880 --> 01:07:19.000 Excuse me, so we're getting too many records to examine for a match here. 163 Crystal Rodriguez 01:07:20.680 --> 01:07:36.960 Before I move on, I'll demonstrate that view. So here if I click on view and then I see the navigate records and list. I can then click on next one hundred records, and then I can actually do that to go back as well. So I could go to the previous one hundred records. 164 Crystal Rodriguez 01:07:39.840 --> 01:07:49.000 Okay, so we need to narrow down our search. So I'm gonna go ahead and close this. I'm gonna open up the search box again. 165 Crystal Rodriguez 01:07:50.720 --> 01:08:05.480 And here I, I want to search for the entire phrase as a whole because I don't want any record that just has the word tomorrow. I'm looking specifically for the word that the title we have. So I'm gonna go ahead and add the word and. 166 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:06.800 --> 01:08:08.600 My box here. 167 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:11.200 --> 01:08:20.160 As that is part of the title, so it needs to be included in the search. I'm keeping English in two thousand, sorry, two thousand, twenty- two. 168 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:21.440 --> 01:08:28.480 So with a- and then I'm going to change my drop down here from title to title phrase. 169 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:30.400 --> 01:08:32.160 And I'm going to click, okay. 170 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:33.600 --> 01:08:54.720 So with the phrase search, we're gonna type all of the terms in exact order that we want to search and those titles all begin with the words that we searched and don't have any other words following them. So the other records in this search result have other fields, like two, forty or two forty- six that would meet the criteria, but. 171 Crystal Rodriguez 01:08:54.720 --> 01:09:00.120 But in our example here, all of our titles begin with tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. 172 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:04.319 --> 01:09:07.359 Now we do have the option of using the truncation. 173 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:09.440 --> 01:09:18.440 Going back to my search if I just search tomorrow and tomorrow, and then I put an asterisk. 174 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:20.400 --> 01:09:40.720 My results are going to be a bit buried. What's gonna happen is I'm going to get titles that just have tomorrow and tomorrow. I'm also going to get my tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, basically, what's happening is here connection is searching for the tight, the phrase tomorrow and tomorrow, and then something after that. 175 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:41.440 --> 01:09:43.600 So in this case. 176 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:44.720 --> 01:09:46.359 Go back over here. 177 Crystal Rodriguez 01:09:49.759 --> 01:10:01.280 So in this case, a phrase search was the more precise search to find this title in world cat, they retrieved a smaller number of records which is easier to examine to find that matching record. 178 Crystal Rodriguez 01:10:05.760 --> 01:10:11.240 Okay, I do see a question here, title hold for Bear with me and we can do that. 179 Crystal Rodriguez 01:10:12.800 --> 01:10:20.880 What is the difference between title phrase and title whole phrase, very timely question as I am about to demonstrate title, hope raise. 180 Crystal Rodriguez 01:10:23.040 --> 01:10:32.080 So getting back to that. So the whole phrase search is whole phrase searches. 181 Crystal Rodriguez 01:10:33.920 --> 01:10:54.400 So the free search only looks for one Subfield at a time. The whole phrase search looks at multiple subfields or the entire field. So the whole phrase index labels end with a w- for example, it would be tiw equals or s- UW equals for subject. So the difference is that. 182 Crystal Rodriguez 01:10:55.420 --> 01:11:00.020 Search is looking at multiple subfields in the entire field. 183 Crystal Rodriguez 01:11:01.740 --> 01:11:16.460 I see another question. Let me see here. Is there a way to limit the results by a DLC record? Yes, I did demonstrate that earlier, but when I get back into connection, I can show that again, just be one moment. 184 Crystal Rodriguez 01:11:19.660 --> 01:11:38.220 Okay, so here on our screen, we've got a little bit more information about those whole phrase searches when you're entering those, you're gonner all the words in order from left to right, again, you do not need to omit words. You can, you would have to enter all the words in all the sub- fields or use Trunc. 185 Crystal Rodriguez 01:11:38.860 --> 01:11:58.700 So here we have this example of a subject heading that includes all the words. United States foreign relations and Canada, I'm gonna go over to connection and before I show that, I'll answer that question about limiting to DLC and that is done here. 186 Crystal Rodriguez 01:11:58.900 --> 01:12:10.700 In our keyword numeric search under source, if I change that to DLC and I click, okay, then I'm only going to get the records that are DLC records. 187 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:14.700 --> 01:12:18.780 Okay, going back over to searching here. 188 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:22.380 --> 01:12:23.620 All right. 189 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:30.060 --> 01:12:35.500 So I'm going to perform a whole phrase search using the keyword Numeric search. 190 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:37.100 --> 01:12:40.980 To do that. I'm gonna make sure I clear out my previous search. 191 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:47.980 --> 01:12:56.500 Okay, so here I'm going to enter in United States. 192 Crystal Rodriguez 01:12:59.580 --> 01:13:18.060 Released in Canada. so this would be a good subject search if I have a book that's referring to foreign relations between United States and Canada, and maybe I'm not quite so sure how those I want to see all those results. So here I'm. 193 Crystal Rodriguez 01:13:19.340 --> 01:13:22.580 Change my drop down to subject whole phrase. 194 Crystal Rodriguez 01:13:27.020 --> 01:13:31.820 And I do want to go ahead and limit a little bit to put in the year of twenty- twenty. 195 Crystal Rodriguez 01:13:36.620 --> 01:13:42.060 And I'm gonna click on one of these records, I'm going to go ahead choose this DLC record here. 196 Crystal Rodriguez 01:13:43.660 --> 01:13:53.980 And when I scroll down and look at the six fifty fields, I see that there is a subject heading that has all three of those items that I searched. 197 Crystal Rodriguez 01:13:58.140 --> 01:14:14.380 Note that when I'm creating that search though, United States formulations and Canada are all separate subfields. So that's why I have to put them all in as a whole phrase search. I want to scroll up in this record also. 198 Crystal Rodriguez 01:14:16.300 --> 01:14:36.780 So point out here, the O- five, O- and the O- eight, two fields, these may be helpful if you're trying to find records and you, maybe you wanna assign a subject a call number to something with that subject heading. So maybe you've searched that same subject heading to determine what others are using. 199 Crystal Rodriguez 01:14:43.820 --> 01:14:54.580 So this could be useful for original cataloggers who may want to just see that similar subject headings. They're also assigned to records that they've retrieved. Okay. 200 Crystal Rodriguez 01:14:57.700 --> 01:14:59.500 Close out of that. 201 Crystal Rodriguez 01:15:05.580 --> 01:15:06.700 Okay. 202 Crystal Rodriguez 01:15:08.140 --> 01:15:15.580 Now, before we proceed onto the next section, I just want to pause for a moment. See if there's any questions that have come in. 203 Crystal Rodriguez 01:15:18.460 --> 01:15:21.180 That we haven't been able to address that is. 204 Crystal Rodriguez 01:15:27.340 --> 01:15:47.820 Looks like I don't see anything coming in, but we'll keep an eye out for that. All right, so the next thing I wanna talk about is a little bit more about those world cat indexes and how do you find out what those are where what's, what's being indexed et cetera. So, on the learner guide that I had sent it towards the bottom there. 205 Crystal Rodriguez 01:15:47.820 --> 01:16:08.300 Is an additional information field and right there, we have a link to the searching world. Cat indexes, you can also get to that by going to help dot OCLC dot org, and just if you search world Cat indexes, that should be the very first thing that pops up for you or one of the first things there it is. It's the very. 206 Crystal Rodriguez 01:16:08.300 --> 01:16:12.460 First recommended search. So I'm gonna go ahead and click on that. 207 Crystal Rodriguez 01:16:14.700 --> 01:16:33.900 So, whether you're a beginner or an expert searcher of role, cat the searching world cat indexes is going to be a useful resource for you. So why would you want to use this document? It's going to help you construct complex searches, especially searches that you don't do on a regular basis and it's also going to. 208 Crystal Rodriguez 01:16:34.540 --> 01:16:45.580 Why you get the searches that you did. So again, you can get to that using that learner guide or through the support site. So we're gonna take a look at a few different areas here. 209 Crystal Rodriguez 01:16:47.340 --> 01:16:51.260 Yep, I do see that a question just came in. Let me see here. 210 Crystal Rodriguez 01:16:54.380 --> 01:17:12.340 Would I be able to show the difference by searching SU and suw? Yeah, I'm gonna start by maybe talking about that here within the search world cat indexes and then we can always go back and search for it. I'm hoping that maybe once we get a little bit further into this document that might help with some of that confusion. 211 Crystal Rodriguez 01:17:14.220 --> 01:17:33.420 But I will hold on to that and take a look at a moment. Okay, so within this document here, under the, about section, that's where you're going to see information. It's about the mark fields and subfields that are indexed for each Broadcat index. It gives examples and provides information about how each in. 212 Crystal Rodriguez 01:17:34.180 --> 01:17:39.620 Works to help you construct a search that retrieves the items you need. 213 Crystal Rodriguez 01:17:41.100 --> 01:17:46.700 And then we're gonna look at the searching role Cat indexes guidelines and requirements. 214 Crystal Rodriguez 01:17:49.420 --> 01:18:08.620 And just a few things to point out here, spacing, so I'm gonna click on that to be taken directly to that section. So there's no space between the index labels used and the search limit. So this explains here that you would just put in your index label with the colon or your EQU. 215 Crystal Rodriguez 01:18:08.820 --> 01:18:12.860 Whatever you're, if you're doing a phrase and then you're search there. 216 Crystal Rodriguez 01:18:14.380 --> 01:18:25.900 And then here's a little bit on special characters in Latin script searches if you're needing to do that, you can read through that section and learn a little bit more about what some of those special characters might be. 217 Crystal Rodriguez 01:18:27.820 --> 01:18:31.820 And where you would substitute as well. 218 Crystal Rodriguez 01:18:36.140 --> 01:18:37.260 Okay. 219 Crystal Rodriguez 01:18:38.700 --> 01:19:00.460 So just a little more about some items items items here there's the stop words information. There's also information about when to use capitalization hyphens. so take just want to show you that area there for you to be able to review those guidelines and requirements. So I'm gonna click, I'm gonna actually go back over here using these breadcrums on our help site. 220 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:00.460 --> 01:19:13.580 And I'm gonna go back to the searching world cat indexes and this is what's gonna, maybe hopefully hopefully answer that question about the SU and the suw. So here if I click on the bibly graphic records. 221 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:18.380 --> 01:19:22.500 Here I'm gonna get a list of all of the different indexes alphabetically. 222 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:26.700 --> 01:19:32.740 And to address your question, let me go ahead and go to the SS here. 223 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:36.300 --> 01:19:42.900 And I can scroll down to the different areas. I should be able to see there's subject. 224 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:44.620 --> 01:19:58.380 So here if I click on at the subject, I can learn a little bit more about the word search that just, that's just gonna search for a single word in the subject, and then I can see. 225 Crystal Rodriguez 01:19:59.980 --> 01:20:04.500 SU equals, which is the phrase and that searching for. 226 Crystal Rodriguez 01:20:07.020 --> 01:20:20.180 An index from the command lines. so that's gonna search for a couple of different words there and it all shows this document here will show you which fields or sub- in subfields are being pulled from. 227 Crystal Rodriguez 01:20:23.020 --> 01:20:26.140 And then lastly, is that SU. 228 Crystal Rodriguez 01:20:31.980 --> 01:20:47.980 So I think to, to address your question, the surch, the, the SU equals is searching that's that phrase search and that's looking for exactly what you type in order. 229 Crystal Rodriguez 01:20:48.620 --> 01:21:04.220 To right in a Subfield and then it's gonna look for any record that has those two words in it. The PHRA, the whole phrase search is looking for records that have all of those words of it. 230 Crystal Rodriguez 01:21:08.160 --> 01:21:09.280 Okay. 231 Crystal Rodriguez 01:21:13.280 --> 01:21:15.840 So getting back over here. 232 Crystal Rodriguez 01:21:19.680 --> 01:21:25.640 I'm going to go ahead and click the back arrow to get back to my first page on this document. 233 Crystal Rodriguez 01:21:28.640 --> 01:21:47.840 And I want to look at the bibly graphic records fields and subfields. So this is essentially an opposite way of searching what the indexes that we just did. So let's say you don't necessarily know what the index you're looking for, but, you know, what field it's in. So if I click on the six XX fields. 234 Crystal Rodriguez 01:21:49.120 --> 01:22:07.280 Then I can look at the six fifty- five and I can see what field is being, or some fields are being indexed. I can see the different search options for me, and what will be retrieved there. 235 Crystal Rodriguez 01:22:10.920 --> 01:22:18.680 Then just one more thing on this document that I wanted to demonstrate for you. So if we go back to the main page of that document. 236 Crystal Rodriguez 01:22:19.880 --> 01:22:40.320 We also see that there's the format types and the material types. So if you're unfamiliar with that material type code, then you can go ahead and click on that and you can find the material type. So here if I see this sound recording, I see that that is our EC is the index used for that. 237 Crystal Rodriguez 01:22:40.320 --> 01:23:00.800 And when I click on that, I can then go even further and see the different values for some, for example, I can click down into specifically CD Audio and see that, that's if I want specifically CD audios, I would use CDA instead of Rec and I can see what fields are. 238 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:00.840 --> 01:23:11.560 Being pulled for, so just keeping this as a, as a resource for yourself as you're working through these searches and trying to determine what you want for your complex searches. 239 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:14.240 --> 01:23:15.480 All right. 240 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:17.440 --> 01:23:23.160 So I'm going to go over and actually demonstrate a complex search in connection. 241 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:30.880 --> 01:23:32.000 Okay. 242 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:36.640 --> 01:23:40.560 Opening up my search box. I'm gonna clear my previous search. 243 Crystal Rodriguez 01:23:44.960 --> 01:24:02.240 So we're using our same example of tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, but here, instead of using my keyword numeric search, I've already identified what my indexes are. So I'm gonna use the command line search and enter those in. So I. 244 Crystal Rodriguez 01:24:02.240 --> 01:24:08.800 I'm gonna enter ti- equals for title phrase and I'm entering the entire phrase. 245 Crystal Rodriguez 01:24:14.400 --> 01:24:31.040 And then I'm going to use the LA equals for English and you'll note that there's no space between the index label and the search term also you're gonna note that I'm not using the Bolean and it's implied here, so I don't need to put that in Bolean and. 246 Crystal Rodriguez 01:24:31.040 --> 01:24:51.520 Between my two different indexes and again, I'm also gonna add the year here so I'm just recreating that previous search, but I'm doing that in the command line search this time, and when I hit enter, I get those same results of the twenty- three records that I had previously receive. 247 Crystal Rodriguez 01:24:55.360 --> 01:24:57.920 So doing another example of that. 248 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:01.120 --> 01:25:18.480 Gonna clear my previous search and looking at our other example of reader come home. I'm gonna put in the TI, but this time I'm gonna use just the title. So I'm searching for each of these words, not just the phrase itself. 249 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:19.680 --> 01:25:37.440 And I'm putting in personal name, but here I am doing a personal name phrase and remember that when we do the personal name phrase, that's last name, Comma space, first name, and I want that material type of CDA because I just want to see those CD audios. 250 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:38.880 --> 01:25:45.360 I'm gonna use the language of English and the year of two thousand twenty- two. 251 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:50.400 --> 01:25:53.360 Okay, and then I'm gonna go ahead and hit enter. 252 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:54.880 --> 01:25:57.200 And I get too many results. 253 Crystal Rodriguez 01:25:58.760 --> 01:26:00.960 Let me take a look at that. 254 Crystal Rodriguez 01:26:02.560 --> 01:26:09.440 Let's try, I think what we want is actually the title equals nope. 255 Crystal Rodriguez 01:26:16.000 --> 01:26:20.680 Well, I am not quite so sure why I'm getting too many results. Let me take a look at that a little further. 256 Crystal Rodriguez 01:26:32.000 --> 01:26:48.000 Should be the, so this is the search that we had tried previously. Why don't we try this? I'm gonna see if I can figure out what that index should be. So I'm gonna clear this out and I'm gonna start by using my keyword numeric search and then. 257 Crystal Rodriguez 01:26:48.000 --> 01:26:58.280 I'll be able to copy that up and I do see a question. Can you use quotation marks for any phrase searching? I'm not sure. I'll test that in a moment. 258 Crystal Rodriguez 01:27:00.800 --> 01:27:20.000 So to try and figure out what I went, what went wrong with my previous search. I'm gonna go ahead and use my box down here, and so this is where as you're learning to become an expert searcher, you might want to start with using your dropdowns and sort of track what happens there. So I'm gonna recreate the same. 259 Crystal Rodriguez 01:27:32.160 --> 01:27:37.160 And then I'm entering in material type of CDA. 260 Crystal Rodriguez 01:27:40.480 --> 01:27:51.400 So that's right there, And then my English is gonna be my language is going to be English. My year is two thousand eighteen. 261 Crystal Rodriguez 01:27:53.280 --> 01:28:01.880 Then I do think I still want that checked for the language of catalogging and there's my results. 262 Crystal Rodriguez 01:28:05.440 --> 01:28:13.720 Oh, I see the previous, my previous search I had been putting the year in incorrectly. So let's try that one more time. 263 Crystal Rodriguez 01:28:15.680 --> 01:28:28.200 So now I now that I see what should have happened. Let me clear out my search here and you'll see again the recreation there. So I'm gonna go ahead and enter in reader come home. 264 Crystal Rodriguez 01:28:33.600 --> 01:28:49.600 And we're gonna enter in our personal name phrase again, that's last name. Comma first name MTCDA, la- eng, and this time we're gonna do the year as. 265 Crystal Rodriguez 01:28:51.560 --> 01:28:53.640 Two thousand and eighteen. 266 Crystal Rodriguez 01:28:57.920 --> 01:29:14.560 And we get those same results. Thank you for bearing with me as I figured out there. All right now to test your question about using quotation marks. Let's try that. So I think what you're saying is, can you do ti? 267 Crystal Rodriguez 01:29:17.120 --> 01:29:35.960 I don't know that you would need to because that's where the, the TI equals comes in. So I don't think you would really need to do quotation marks and you can't, I don't believe if you just do quotation marks like this. I don't believe that's going to work. Let's see. 268 Crystal Rodriguez 01:29:36.320 --> 01:29:47.880 Actually it did. So thank you for the question. It does show that you can, if you, now, if you're using those quotations, then it is searching it as a phrase. 269 Crystal Rodriguez 01:29:51.040 --> 01:30:09.600 I think actually using the quotations like that, it might be try that one more time because I want to see is that searching keyword or is it searching title? Yeah, so I think that's actually a keyword phrase search when you're doing that it is, so you can use the quotations, but keep in mind that when you're, if. 270 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:10.240 --> 01:30:19.840 Using quotations, you're not getting a title phrase search or getting a keyword phrase search and you can learn a little more on that in that documentation, if you need. 271 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:21.760 --> 01:30:22.880 Okay. 272 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:27.520 --> 01:30:34.240 And I did just wanna go and show one more search complex search for you here just another thing with our previous search. 273 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:36.480 --> 01:30:52.600 So I can also search title reader come home and then I can actually just use a slash for English and a slash for year. I, you know, try that real quick. 274 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:55.680 --> 01:30:57.800 Okay, maybe. 275 Crystal Rodriguez 01:30:59.960 --> 01:31:03.360 Actually, I think it was just yes, slash. 276 Crystal Rodriguez 01:31:04.640 --> 01:31:11.560 Year two thousand eighteen. Well, this is what I get for trying to show something on the fly. 277 Crystal Rodriguez 01:31:14.380 --> 01:31:30.140 In, in the world cat search index documentation. There is information there on using those slash qualifiers, if you prefer those, but in the meantime, I would just say use this, The searches that we performed here minute ago. All right. 278 Crystal Rodriguez 01:31:32.460 --> 01:31:44.140 Back over to our Powerpoint here, just little time here. Is there any questions or anything that you needed me to review again, that we've talked about today. 279 Crystal Rodriguez 01:31:58.300 --> 01:32:16.220 All right, I'm not seeing any questions come through, but we'll wait a few moments, Some of you may be typing as you're typing your questions, just a couple reminders about that learner guide that I did send you, there's some great helpful hints.
